Thalassemia is a disease affecting patient lifelong. Our aim is to have a community free of Thalassemia by health awareness, pre marriage counselling and PGD. Thalassemia is a form of inherited autosomal recessive blood disorders characterized by abnormal formation of Hemoglobin. The abnormal hemoglobin formed results in improper oxygen transport and destruction of the red blood cells. Normally the majority of adults hemoglobin (HBA) is composed of four protein chains, two �± and two �²globin chains arranged into a heterotetramer.
