Dr. Sosa received her PhD in Health Education from Texas A&M University and her Masters of Science and Bachelors degree in Psychology. She has experience in community and school-based diabetes and obesity prevention programs and expertise in the area of program evaluation, instrument development and database management.
Her research interests include examining structural, cultural, and psychosocial contributors to the onset of diabetes and obesity among minority populations. Her interests also include identifying opportunities for improving data analysis and psychometric measurements used in Health Promotion research. Currently, her primary research uses a socioecological perspective to examine factors influencing diabetes and obesity-related behaviors and the effectiveness of culturally tailored and family-based preventions.
