Biography

Padmakumari. P received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology and started her teaching career in 2006 and nearly completing 10 years of undergraduate and post graduate teaching. As a faculty member at the department of psychology, Christ University, she teaches students at undergraduate, post graduate and MPhil level. Her academic interests include Psychopathology, research methods and positive psychology. More specifically she enjoys teaching Physiological Psychology, Biological Foundations of Behavior, Counseling Theories and Techniques, Clinical and dissertation supervision, Psychometry, Psychopathology, Positive Psychology, and Research Methods. She is actively involved in research across wide range of topics in Psychopathology and positive psychology including: Forgiveness, Character Strengths, Emotional Intelligence, Alexithymia, and Adjunctive Psychological Therapy.

She believes that her role as a teacher is to provide a strong theoretical and practical knowledge base for students through creating a learning experience that emanates from introspection and practical application which would enhance their understanding of the subject matter and prepare them to take responsibility for their own learning. In addition to serving actively in academic and administrative activities, she has contributed extensively towards clinical, consultative and extension activities.
