Biography

Dr Chimenti has accumulated clinical experience in Internal Medicine, Immunology and Rheumatology. The beginning of her clinical research career was focused on the study of the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease as SLE and APS. Subsequently, when she joined the “département d’Immunologie” de l’institut Cochin in Paris and the Rheumatology Department at the "Hopital Ambroise-Paré", Boulogne, Paris, she focused her clinical research activity on the pathogenesis of Spondyloarthrtis. During her post-Doctoral fellowship, she experiences laboratory technique as RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, western and immunoblotting, cellular cultures, flowcytometry, ELISA, experiments on animal models and direct/indirect immunofluorescence. During the last ten years, she participated at the evaluation of the safety and efficacy of treatments for psoriatic arthritis. She also works in the field of autoimmune diseases, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and osteoporosis. She is the coordinator of a combined Rheumatology and Dermatology out-patients Unit for the early diagnosis and treatment of psoriatic arthritis at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" and of a combined Rheumatology and Gastroenterology out-patients Unit for the early diagnosis and treatment of entheropatic arthritis at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". She is coordinator of the unit of Musculoskeletal ultrasonography at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". The results of her clinical activity are also documented by several publications on peer reviewed journals. Dr Chimenti is a teacher in EMC courses on Rheumatology and on Dermatology on the use of biologic drugs in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis and on the use of ultrasonography for psoriatic arthritis management. Dr Chimenti is skilled in molecular and cellular biology and in clinical and therapeutical management of Spondyloarthritis. Her interest is focused on these major topics: 1) Role of innate immunity in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases 2) Role of complement system in autoimmune diseases 3) Signaling of inflammatory cytokines in joint diseases 4) Diagnostic and therapeutic management of Psoriatic arthritis and Spondyloarthritis patients  Dr Chimenti is actively collaborating with several research groups in in Italy: national working group for early arthritis (PRP 2010-2015); national Editorial Board: "Use of anti-TNF in patients with AS, PsA, PsO and RA and type 2 diabetes" (2013-2014).
