Abstract :

Medulloblastomas are the most common malignant CNS tumor of childhood. They are neuroepithelial tumors arising from the cerebellum and account for about 20% of all intracranial tumors in children, and for 40% of all childhood posterior fossa tumors. The study was conducted on 47 patients underwent surgery for posterior fossa medulloblastomas at the neurosurgery department, Mansoura University. In this study the biological behavior of tumors and the applied multimodality treatment has been correlated to the quality of survival of those children. The quality of life has been assessed using PedsQL program. It was found that PedsQL score was markedly diminished in children younger than 4 years at diagnosis, those with positive survivin expression, subtotal resection and those exposed to multiple surgical procedures.
