Abstract :

Fulminant pseudotumorcerebri is a rare entity comprising of a small subgroup of patients of pseudotumorcerebri (PTC) in which the patient experiences a rapid onset of symptoms and rapidly progressive visual decline. This can manifest as significant visual field loss, central visual acuity loss, and marked papilledema on initial examination. With early diagnosis and aggressive management, one can expect good visual outcomes and reversal of the symptoms. The authors wish to present the case of a fulminant pseudotumorcerebri in a 27- year old obese female patient, who showed a very drastic and rapid improvement of her symptoms with the placement of a theco-peritoneal shunt.
