Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood against the blood vessels walls, and the magnitude of this force only depends on the Cardiac Output and the resistance of the blood vessels. The high blood pressure usually does not cause any symptoms but the long term high blood pressure, however, is a major risk factor for stroke, Coronary Artery Disease, peripheral vascular disease, Heart Failure, vision loss, and chronic kidney disease.
