Behavioral
health is a person’s state of being and how their behaviors and choices affect their overall
health and wellness. Substance abuse and addictions of all kinds fall into the realm of behavioral health. Behavioral
health is the scientific study of the emotions, behaviors and biology relating to a person’s mental well-being, their ability to function in every day life and their concept of self. “Behavioral health” is the preferred term to “mental health.‘behavioral health’ and ‘mental health’ are often used interchangeably, they don’t always mean the same thing. Mental
health focuses solely on a person’s psychological state, whereas behavioral
health is a broader umbrella that can incorporate physical and mental struggles eating habits, exercise routines, and alcohol consumption. Behavioural
health includes non-pharmacological therapies for conditions such as mental health,
substance abuse disorder etc. A considerable chunk of population struggle throughout their lives to cope with mental illnesses, such as personality disorders or depression,
substance abuse disorders or other addictive behaviours.
