rehabilitation of an absent, disfigured or malformed anatomically critical location of the face or body. The studies of an anaplastologist contains the
humanities and sciences. Visual arts are studied, namely photography, illustration, sculpture, and painting. Biology, behavioral sciences, materials science, and physics are the studied sciences with emphases in superficial
anatomy and physiology of humans, polymer science, optics, dermatology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, and
oncology to name a few. However, all patients aren't suitable surgical candidates and lots of have sought nonsurgical options for functional and cosmetic restoration. As such, the arrival of prostheses has ameliorated those concerns and provided a viable alternative for select patient populations. The most current prosthetic biomaterials and their indications were also identified. Special attention was placed on auricular, orbital, midface, and nasal defects; prosthetic materials; retention mechanisms; and technique for placement. anaplastology
