Biography

Stephen Worthley holds a personal chair as Helpman Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine in the University of Adelaide. He is an interventional cardiologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, supervisor for post graduate research fellows and medical students/graduates and principal investigator in clinical trials evaluating novel devices and technologies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease (CVD). He has undertaken first in man studies evaluating percutaneous trans aortic valve replacement (TAVI) for the treatment of aortic valve disease and renal denervation for the management of resistant hypertension. He has a keen interest in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis, treatment, and investigation of CVD. Professor Worthley serves on the editorial board of major cardiology journals. He has authored one book, five book chapters and more than 230 peer review publications. He is also one of the authors of Journal of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
