Biography

 Dr. Sangeeta Mahajan is an accredited fellowship-trained urogynecologist whose research focuses on the epidemiology and pathophysiology of overactive bladder. She maintains special expertise in the novel applications of botulinum A toxin in the lower urinary tract for idiopathic and neurogenic detrusor overactivity as well as in the pelvic floor musculature for myofascial pelvic pain.

 
Dr. Mahajan continues to work closely with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's NARCOMS database examine the impact of overactive bladder symptoms on the quality of life of patients with Multiple Sclerosis. She also serve as R01 funded co-investigator with Dr. Tom Chelimsky in the Department of Neurology to examine the relationship between painful bladder syndrome and myofascial pelvic pain. She maintains a strong interest in resident and fellow education as well as educational research. Dr. Mahajan founded the division of Urogynecology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UHCMC five years ago prior to the creation of the joint Female Pelvic Surgery Institute and will serve and director of this joint fellowship.
