Dinesh G Nair
Massachusetts General Hospital, USA
Dr. Dinesh Nair works in the Neuromuscular and Comprehensive Neurology divisions at MGH, and sees patients in the Neuromuscular and the general Neurology (Urgent Access) clinics. In addition to general Neurology, Dr. Nair’s specific clinical interests include neuropathies, neuromuscular diseases and myopathies. During the last few years at MGH, he was also involved in Intraoperative Neurophysiological monitoring.
After completing his medical training (MBBS) in India, Dr. Nair decided to pursue research in Neurology. During his post-graduate training in Biomedical Engineering (M.Tech) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, he focused on neuromuscular physiology. He then worked as a Scientist in the Neurology and Biomedical divisions of a premier national institute in India (Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology), following which he came to the United States for a PhD in Neurosciences. At the Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences at Florida Atlantic University, he studied the brain mechanisms of motor control using functional MRI. During his post-doctoral fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School, he furthered his research interest in brain plasticity using brain stimulation techniques. He then did his Neurology residency and Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital / Brown University, prior to joining as faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital.
