Biography

 Dr Playford trained at the Medical College of St Bartholomew's Hospital, and having completed 

general medical training went on to do research at the MRC Cyclotron Unit at The Hammersmith Hospital.  She then trained in neurology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery before taking up a Senior Lecturer post at the University of Nottingham.  She returned to the National Hospital in 2000 where she leads the Neurological Rehabilitation Service.
Research Interest

 Dr Playford's research focusses on rehabilitation processes (including goal setting), interventions (vocational rehabilitation and robotics), and service evaluations.  She has been fortunate to receive research funding from the MS Society, College of Occupational Therapists, MacMillan and the National Institute for Health Research Policy Research programme for work on vocational rehabilitation, from the Neurodisability Reserch Trust at the Royal Hospital for Neurodisability for work on low awareness states and from the Stroke Assocaition for work on robotics.
