Whether Marx has an moral concern and ethical theory in his works has been a controversial issue today. This debate is often based on Marx's ideas about alienation, human nature, and capitalism. In this context, the article firstly provides a historical background on Marx's theory of alienation and how the concept of alienation emerged. Then, by establishing the relationship between the concept of alienation and human nature, it is discussed whether Marx's understanding of human nature enables him to form an ethical theory. In this respect, the idea that Marx has an universal understanding of human nature that serves his ethical theory is discussed with the analysis of Louis Althusser and Norman Geras. As a result of the discussions, the conclusion that Marx has an ethical theory and understanding of morality is supported in the article.
