Abstract

Sinasi was a pioneer as a poet, author and journalist of the modern Turkish Literature. This position is attributed to his social and cultural human capital. His experience in France and proximity to political figures was a strong supporter for his literary activities. Most importantly he was able to push his influence beyond his contemporaries in the field by modern publishing and journalism. The contemporary group Encümen-i Suarâ also brought innovation to some aspects of the poetry but they were not as effective. Sinasi not only changed the field but also influenced his readership, especially the young generation of writers around him, to think and write about the traditional mentality. Literature and the language became a means to protect and develop the social utility after him.
