Glucagonoma

Glucagonoma is a tumor that forms in cells that make glucagon. Glucagon is a hormone that increases the amount of glucose in the blood. Glucagon causes the liver to break down glycogen. Too much of glucagon causes hyperglycemia (high blood sugar). A glucagonoma usually forms in the tail of the pancreas. Most glucagonomas are malignant (cancer) which are fatal.
