The condition known as “gummy smile” can be a situation challenging to solve. Despite it is not considered pathology; gingival smile is sometimes considered an esthetic issue. Most common reason of “gummy smile” is a vertical maxillary excess. Other reasons related can be short teeth as well as short upper lip among others. Different solutions had been proposed. Orthognathic surgery seems to be the final solution for vertical maxillary excess. Nevertheless, there are options like lip repositioning and crown lengthening that can be helpful to solve the esthetic problem without need of a major surgery. In this direction, we are doing a cases review of lip repositioning and crown lengthening as esthetic options for management of “gummy smile”.
