Attitude towards preventive care of dental and oral health based on gender of profession student faculty of dentistry Hasanuddin University

Attitudes towards preventative care are important factors for the practice of preventing oral and dental diseases. Attitudes do not only affect the habits of dentists towards the care given to the community but also have the potential to affect the ability of dentists to motivate patients to take preventive measures for dental and oral diseases. This study aims to determine attitudes towards preventive measures of dental and mouth health based on sex in the students of the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University. This type of research used in this research is descriptive observational study with crosssectional study design. The sample in this study were professional students of the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University, which were taken by accidental sampling method. The criteria for evaluating attitudes towards preventive measures are carried out using the POHB (Preventive Oral Health Behaviour) questionnaire and using the Guttman scale. Overall, professional students who are male 100.0% agree that preventive measures for oral health benefit the community, benefit the community, and are important for the community. From the results of the statistical data in table 1, there are significant differences between men and women related to attitudes towards preventive actions in dental and oral health in the attitude category that agrees that preventive measures are very good for dentists. This is indicated by the value of p 0.05. T-test results as in table 2 above show the average value of attitudes in male professional students is 6.78 with a standard deviation of 0.75 and the average value of attitudes in female professional students is 7.03 with a standard deviation of 0.71. The p value of both groups of 0.093 showed no significant differences in the two sex groups. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between the attitudes of the professional students of the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University who are female and male towards oral health preventive measures.
